DRAPERY

Simple and Contemporary

Drapery, also known as curtains or drapes, is a versatile and decorative window treatment that can enhance the aesthetics and functionality of your home’s interior spaces. Drapery is typically made from various fabrics and is used for both practical and decorative purposes.

  • Drapery is available in a wide range of fabric options, including silk, linen, cotton, polyester, velvet, and more. The choice of fabric can significantly impact the appearance and functionality of the drapery.
  • Drapery comes in various styles and designs, ranging from simple and minimalistic to elaborate and ornate. Common drapery styles include Pinch-Pleat, French-Pleat, Grommet-top, and Ripple Fold, each offering a distinct look.
  • Drapery can provide varying levels of light control and privacy. Sheer and lightweight fabrics allow diffused natural light to enter while offering limited privacy, whereas heavier and opaque fabrics can block out light entirely.
  • Drapery can provide excellent privacy when fully closed, preventing outsiders from seeing into your home. This is especially useful in bedrooms and living areas.
  • Heavier drapery with thermal or blackout lining can improve energy efficiency by reducing heat gain in the summer and heat loss in the winter. This can help lower heating and cooling costs. . Drapery can help dampen external noise to create a quieter and more comfortable indoor environment, making it particularly useful in noisy urban areas.
  • Drapery can be used alone or in combination with other window treatments, such as blinds or shades, to achieve a layered look. This layering adds depth and visual interest to your windows.

2. MANUAL

Draw Rod

Draperies can be manually operated using a draw rod, which is a wand-like tool inserted into a pocket on the leading edge of the drapery panel. By pulling or pushing the rod, the draperies can be opened or closed.

Hand Draw

This method involves manually pulling the drapery fabric across the curtain rod or track to open or close the draperies. Rings or gliders on the rod facilitate smooth movement.

Pull Cord

Some drapery systems include a pull cord or string that is used to open or close the draperies by pulling on the cord, which is connected to the carrier mechanisms on the track or rod.

DRAPERY STACKING STYLES

CENTER OPEN

Center open track system operates by allowing the panels to stack evenly on either side of the window, creating a symmetrical appearance when the treatment is opened. This means that the panels are drawn to the center of the window opening, with an equal amount of fabric on each side, resulting in a balanced and aesthetically pleasing look.

RIGHT OR LEFT STACKING

  • Right Stacking: When the window treatment is opened, the panels stack towards the right side of the window or door opening. This means that when fully opened, the majority of the fabric is gathered on the right side.
  • Left Stacking: Conversely, when the window treatment is opened, the panels stack towards the left side of the window or door opening. This results in the majority of the fabric being gathered on the left side when the treatment is fully opened.
